My name is Mahima, and I’m based in Houston, TX, USA. I began learning veena during my undergraduate years in India, but after moving to the US, I struggled to dedicate enough time to practice and felt like I had forgotten much of what I had learned. Over time, I became determined to find a teacher who could help me rebuild and refine my skills. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Dr. Ranjani Devi, who offers online classes at times convenient for me despite our time zone differences. One of my favorite aspects of learning with her is the emphasis on Gamakams, an area I’ve always been deeply interested in mastering. Dr. Ranjani has been an amazing mentor—patiently addressing my concerns, revisiting fundamentals, and guiding me with clarity and precision. Thanks to her dedicated teaching and encouragement, I now have a much clearer understanding of the concepts, have gained confidence in my playing, and can feel myself improving every day. I’m truly grateful for her expertise and support, which have rekindled my passion for the veena and made my musical journey deeply fulfilling.
